in response to Manicmechanic...I have a 1999 Grand Am SE 4cyl, and my water pump needs to be replaced. I'm a disabled female senior and can not afford to pay $950 to a service center for labor fees. At that price it's more than my monthly income. I can get the new water pump I just can't afford to pay someone a large sum of money to replace it when the car is 13yrs old with almost 200,000 miles on it. It's still reliable with the exception of the pump. Just can't seem to find anyone that is willing to donate their time to replace it.
in response to kids are cold...Hi, I dont know if you have read any of my other posts to people on here a lot of car problems arent as bad or hard to fix on your own which would save you a great deal of money in the long run, "teach a man to fish..." kind of thing. First of all, If you don't mind of course. 1. Make and Model of your van. 2. Specifics: mileage, driving habits, past problems etc. 3. What do you mean about to die? describe as best as you can, noises, lack of power, hard to steer, dies at stoplights, etc. 4. When you say "no heat" does that mean when you turn the switch on the fan blows (air actually comes out of the vents) but it just isn't warm? Or is it nothing happens, no air no nothing? If you get air but no heat, 99 out of 100 its your thermostat, very simple and easy to do and requires usually very basic tools. Beginner Auto tech students get asked to do these types of jobs. If there is no air blowing at all, it most likely an electrical problem, a fuse, switch, or relay, again very simple to do and not to be overwhelmed by. If you"d like anymore advice or help just let me know. Hope this helps in someway.

in response to alohapeeps...are you sure it's the fuel pump? alot of times a relay goes bad and the pump is unnecessarily replaced. (if your has an electric fuel pump that is, which most fairly modern cars do.) also the relay is cheap and really easy to do. the first step is to either you or a friend turn your key to the on position (the last spot right before you start the motor) with the gas cap off listen for a humming sound. it last for 3 to 5 seconds and then stops. if you don't hear this the relay is probably bad and doesn't cost anywhere near the same as fuel pump. if you do hear this noise the next thing to do is check for fuel pressure, this is done pretty easily at the fuel filter. check for the relay first and then let me know what yo have found out. also specifics on your car would be appreciated and I could do my homework on your specific vehicle.

in response to kaylessthan3...I'd need all the specifics on your car (year make model motor , etc. )but usually when a car starts and shuts off right after the go to is the "ignition control module".

Hello and peace and blessings to all. I am a single mother of 2 school aged children that currently stay in Missouri. I am employed My vehicle just recently stopped on me and I have no idea as to what the problem may be, nor do I have the finances to have the repairs done . I am employed part time and I will also be returning to school shortly but I am very much afraid that I will be terminated because I will not be able to make it to and from work. there is public transportation but not in my immediate area. I do not receive full time hours at work, but hey its a job and it pays the bills, and each week the schedule changes it varies from week to week. I have been employed with this company for close to a year and a half and I am not able to transfer to another location closest to where I live due to the fact that it is a union job and the location nearest to my home does not have that same union at its location. I have had to call off from work already this week. I have also tried to ask family members but they have to get back and forth to work as well. I just wanted to know is there are any organizations that may help with my crisis.May it be car repair or a donated vehicle I would greatly appreciate it. I remain hopeful and prayerful I hope that everyone will find the help that they seek.
I am a 20 year old woman in the process of looking for work. I am also 4 months pregnant (16 weeks day after tomorrow) and my car is broken down. I have no idea what is wrong with it. I had gotten into a wreck a few months ago and I've put every penny that I had into replacing things that already needed replaced. I finally got it running and then after the last few things that I changed, (catalytic converter, exhaust, and ignition switch) it no longer runs. It will start, run for two seconds, and die. I can hear the fuel pump kick on so that isn't it. I don't have the money to tow it to a shop, have it checked, and to have it fixed. Without this car I have no way of getting to my monthly appointments or to even search for work. (Nowhere within walking distance is currently hiring) and my friends/family can't help. I'm running out of ideas and time. If anyone could help me or at least point me in the right direction for help I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
My daughter is Pregnant and just got a job... She desperately needs a car, however, she has NO money to go get one and I am unemployed with this economy and I can not even help her.
She lives in Florida and I in Georgia,
If anyone one Knows any way that she can get into a car to keep her job and her rental home it would be great. Again she has no money available to get into a car.
with out a car she will very soon loose her new job and her rental home with a baby on the way this is devastating.
Once she has a car we can help her some with getting the tags and insurance but not much.

Hello, My name is Caleb Carpenter, i am a master carpenter by trade , and I have found myself at diffacult, almost seemingly impossible point in my life due to past history including death of my wife Sheila in 2007, and a term in jail for menacing , I am in such a desperate state for a vehicle as i have limited/almost no opportunity for work without a vehilce, I have a crystal clear driving record, i am 39 years old, I am not claiming any disability, nor SSI , I am simply a late bloomer, and find myself today surrounded by work that i cannot access due to a lack of a vehicle. I Pray to God that one of our brothers or sisters will be led to this tiny little request by the Holy Spirit , for it is a miniscule request compared to the power of God, anyone with any info or possiblities please email me at caleb112471@gmail.com . God Bless and have a wonderful blessed day.
My name is Jorja. I'm an almost "53" year old disabled grandmother. I along with my husband (Sweet Pea) of 24 years (also disabled) are raising our 7, almost 8 year old grand daughter. We have been without transportation for over a year. We've asked family and neighbors alike for rides to various locations (i.e. Social Security office, grandchild's school, etc.). Most of the time now we get the "I'm already obligated or have an appointment scheduled," spiel whenever we ask for help getting somewhere. We take the local Trolley when there's a little money left over after paying the bills (not very often with school clothes, supplies and such). I get SSI but my husband is still waiting on a decision from his filing. We try to walk but with much difficulty (I have a bum ticker) and my husband has severe emphazema and arthritis. Sometimes we have to wait days or weeks to take care of business. We hardly ever get to the pharmacy on time when our prescriptions run out. Right now, it's Monday, 1:22 am. I have 1 doze each of my medicines but have to wait until Thursday to get them. My money ran out on the 10th of this month. Nothing ever stays on time or in sync. I feel as though my husband and I are in a bad roulette game without any transportation. We sure could use a miracle. Thanks for listening.
It is very important you understand that the worse you feel the worse it gets; we're all given the gift of imagination to help SEE our way through various situations and circumstances, if you can imagine it you can have it. Ok now for your car situation. If it's been longer than 4 yrs since the credit card issue, it may have very little affect on your credit now, and if it's been more recent, you may dispute the amount owed to the credit card company. Then call the credit bureau and have it removed from your report, also. you should get a copy of your credit report to evaluate what's on it. There may be other negative things on it that you can get removed, then you may be able to get a car with zero down and low installments or perhaps get a low interest rate loan. One last thing, before starting your day meditate. It may sound strange but, 15 minutes, eyes closed, letting go of every negative thought/feeling, concentrating on your breathing and visualizing how you want your day to go, this can help calm your spirit and help bring you from a state of depression to a higher emotional set point, (love, knowledge, empowerment and joy being the highest, and depression/dispair being the lowest), perhaps anger, and anger to blaming, and blaming to irration, irratation to pessimistic, and from there to hopefulness. It can get better but first commit today to reach for a better emotional set point and to ultimately enpower yourself with controlling your emotional well being. And then, hopefully you will see that we are all Well Beings. Be well!
I've had a horrific life of abuse since childhood. It is too long to go into all the details, but some of it includes being tied to a tree with a metal dog choker chain from the ages of 1-3, mother married 25x plus hundreds of other men in and out of our house, sexually, physically, verbally, and emotionally abused by mother and her men, never knew my real father, beaten daily to the point of migraine headaches daily starting at age 5, being left in front of the elementary school naked, daily beatings, never allowed to show any upset or anger, only allowed to smile even when bleeding under my clothes. She was also Munchensian-by-proxy. I was forced to take prescription drugs and drink chemicals from an early age every day. So that she could take me to the doctor and say "something was wrong and testing was needed." I was at the hospital constantly getting dye through my kidneys, brain, 6-hr glucose tolerance tests, shots, put on medications repeatedly. The only family I had was my mother and mentally ill grandmother. I was taken out of the home at age 14 by the state and bounced around foster family and group home situations.
Because of so much bizarre treatment, I never saw a healthy relationship or man. I desperately wanted to get married and start my own family and NEVER be divorced. But, I attracted abusive men like a magnet. And I had learned to tolerate so much abuse that I put up with it. I was married three times with each being worse than the last. The one I am separated from and trying to divorce now was the worst. Since I have no family, I had no where to go. By 2,000 my health was so bad with Migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, depression, etc. that I had to quit working and go on disability.
I have been fighting my way back for two years. I left my abuser, got a small apt, went back to school for my masters degree in counseling. It has been so hard to make it in a large city with just $800 per month. My son is 17 now, I cannot provide the things he needs at this stage. I am ready to begin doing my internship in counseling. I was funded by my church to go to counseling myself five years ago. The counseling changed my life. I want to do for others what the counselor did for me in helping me to put my self esteem together and gain the courage to leave. I have worked hard and have all A's in school. But, my compassion and life experience are invaluable to others in the situation of abuse. I can help so many, but I need transportation. I cannot afford a car or lease payment, and have no one to turn to. If a private donar could see my story and have compassion for what I have endured and still tried to make something positive of it and join me in my quest to help others, I would be eternally grateful.

in response to Bill Chesh43...Wow, that's a terrible situation and I am sorry to hear you were taken for your money in such a way. My husband and I have a friend who had a very similar experience, only difference was she said she was from the UK. He sent a lot of money and it took some time before he realized for himself that this was all a scam. It's very unfortunate, sad and certainly unfair. I hate that those who are so trusting, thoughtful, caring and want to help, are used in such a manner ... I am glad you finally cut ties with her. We all have different experiences in this life, and sometimes we are meant to learn certain lessons through these less than wonder means, ... frustrating without a doubt, but hopefully you can take away something positive from this experience. And of course, putting your story out there and the name and info regarding that person and their scam is helpful for both yourself and hopefully for others ... if it doesn't directly stop her or prevent someone from falling victim to that particular scam artist, at least you will know that your shared story may help others in a similar situation and give them reason to think twice and perhaps not go through with helping and buying into the lies. Scams are running rampant ... all over the internet like wildfire and unless one has experience and knowledge around the various scams, etc., then it's incredibly easy to fall victim, especially if you're a caring and generous individual. I remember when I first began posting ads on Craigslist to sell some furniture and such to make extra money, and had I not had my husband review the replies I would have fallen right into a scammers trap right off the batt. It seemed so legit, and of course, those of us who pretty much mean well and would never scam or lie ourselves, we typically trust others and don't even think twice that others may be up to no good ... and of course, we are the type of people scammers target! I was so disappointed when my husband uncovered this first scammer thru my Craigslist ad, but equally as thankful that he knew what was what and that I didn't lose my money or anything else! Now, after a number of years on the internet and various websites, etc., I am more aware and knowledgeable about scammers and things that are not all on the up and up. But, just like anything else in this life, it takes time and experience, and sometimes we learn the hard way. There are a few general rules when it comes to the internet and protecting ones self from scammers and their scams. The more obvious ones like never ever provide your personal information online, even when you think an email request or something of that nature requesting your info (whether it be your full name, address, phone number, work info, bank info, anything really) seems legit and is coming from what appears to be a genuine source and/or company. When it comes to selling things on the internet make sure you do so thru a place like ebay, as it's set up in a manner to better protect you, your info and your purchase and exchange of money. And if you do so thru Craigslist of a similar site, make sure to only do so locally, with cash (Never with a check, money order, wire transfer, cashier's check or registered check - NEVER!), .. and along those same lines never agree to cash money and return a portion of it to the seller/buyer, as this is always a scam ... even if it sounds legit, ie., a common one is money for shipping or something along those lines. That's just a basic example, and as more people know about these scams, the more the scammers are changing things up. Another obvious red flag when it comes to that sort of thing/sale/purchase is when someone agrees right off the batt to pay your asking price or even more. Other scams, like the one you've shared, and ones which are more common to sites like this one, are requests for money in order to "save/help" someone, get them essential needs/items, etc. Most individuals like this are on a number of sites working every angle they can ... and they prey on those who appear nice and generous ... they play the sympathy card, use children and chronic health problems and domestic violence/abuse as their hook, line and sinker, and it often works. I see it in play on this site a few times a day, and yes, some people are taken for their money and believe again and again that this "needy" person is legit and being honest. Just as i tell most people, in general, most of these folks are probably in need in some manner, as they likely wouldn't be going to such extents to get help and scam if they were doing fine financially. As you likely experienced from your situation, the scammer's stories change and shift, and you can catch them in lies fairly quickly ... but they tend to be good at charming people as well, or guilting them, .. and well, those who do help and fall victim often don't want to believe these folks are scammers, .. that they're anything but the sweet person in need like they thought them to be. Well, I am glad that you're no longer dealing with that woman, and hope your life has begun to recover from all of that turmoil. Another one to chalk up as "live and learn." Best to you & many blessings, Cat

Well, I am glad that you're no longer dealing with that woman, and hope your life has begun to recover from all of that turmoil. Another one to chalk up as "live and learn." Best to you & many blessings, Cat
I live in a small town in Colorado about 20 miles from the nearest town. My 1989 car died and is now in a junk yard. My husband has diabetes and needs to see a doctor and get his meds. I need to look for a job as I can't find one here. Our small dogs need their shots. We need help. Please! email at appalo77@yahoo.com Thank you.
in response to CATLUV...In my particular instance, I 'met' this person, on-line, and her profile on Chemistry.com, said she was from a town called Chandler, AZ, 45 miles to the SE of me, still in the Phoenix metro area. She asked for no money until she 'left for Singapore' on a antique buying spree, for her supposed store, which found out the store was real. She invited me to the site, and to create a profile on there. 5 days later she asked for $40, and then $50. Days later, she said she couldn't access her money, without a deposit ($700). I had to borrow that money. I didn't have it. Long story, made short, I payed for 3 'flights' to bring her home, back to Chandler, AZ, but something always came up, whether it was Singapore taking $300 of the flight money (for a bribe), to the moneygram place, in a remote part of singapore taking a bribe ($75)to cash my moneygram there... I really thought she loved me... My boss at work, called me into his office, 3 times, to warn me to stop contacting her. After that I met my future & present Fiance, and decided to break ties with the on-line lady. I had to go declare bankruptcy, because of the whole thing, and lost my good running, newer car. The on-line scammer's name was 'Ann Watrous', and she said she was from Australia (Augathella). Her code for text messages comes across as 926-02... Hopefully this prevents someone else for falling prey to her whims
in response to Bill Chesh43...I am wondering .. did you never actually meet this woman in person, but rather, only had contact from the start via the internet? I ask because this is a common scam online ... stories vary, but the basic jist is that a person requests airfare for one reason or another, and promises to come visit and "help" or what have you, the person they are communicating with online but they never show up. They often try to request several times, resulting in the other individual sending money for more than one ticket, and the scammer will say everything from their plane was late, cancelled, there was a family emergency, etc. Ultimately they never show up, and after a few times, they cut off contact all together, as they anticipate that the person being scammed is beginning to realize what's going on and can no longer use them any more. If this was the case you're describing, i am sorry this happened to you. Sadly, all too often it seems that those who don't have the money to lose are the ones being duped and scammed in this nature. I encourage anybody online to be extra cautious when it comes to any requests for money or anything to do with money, even while a person may seem sweet as pie and harmless, this is how they set up their scams and work the system - and they're VERY successful the majority of the time.
People want to believe there's good in everybody (I am no different), and like to give others the benefit of the doubt, but to be frank, when it comes to the internet, this is a place you need to be most vigilant and careful with/of yourself, your actions and your money. Many many scams out there folks! And sadly, they're on pretty much every website you can think of and every place they can infiltrate, THIS ONE INCLUDED!
I wish people would stop, but that's somewhat of an empty hope, because as long as the economy is in such desperate straights, as long as people have no hope for themselves, no conscious, are purely selfish, lazy, careless of others' lives, feelings, needs and hard work, as long as jobs are scarce, as long as greed rules this country & the world as a whole, and as long as people care more about themselves and appearing wealthy (or being wealthy), well, scamming will continue. It's sickening and wrong in my opinion, and it's extremely unfortunate that a site like this one - built with the intention of HELPING others and not hurting them - continues to see people who don't truly care to hear of resources and try ideas suggested by others whom are equally as poor and struggling to survive, well, I fear that our state of affairs will only grow worse.
I do apologize for going off on a tangent, as this longer message I have composed was not so much directed at yourself, but the latter part about scamming, is directed at all of those who choose to scam instead of working to make a positive difference. It's equally as sad and disappointing to myself that those who choose to scam others (most of whom are targets are NOT wealthy, probably in the same boat as the scammers financially, just good and giving people who actually want to make a difference in this world and truly HELP not hurt), also choose to attack and abuse those who try to help, and make threats, trying to intimidate and guilt the individual(s) offering help, .. or if they can no longer help financially. This is a disgusting and cowardly action/behavior. And all I can say to that is simple: Karma.
Yes, everyone needs some form of help at some point in their lives or another, ... some more than others, and we all deserve help when we find ourselves struggling, but obtaining that help certainly becomes more challenging when so many people have been scammed and will no longer offer their help for fear of trusting that an individuals requests and needs are HONEST & REAL.
I'm seeking a donated car... Why?... 2 main reasons: My hours at work have been cut, drastically, especially, this summer. I have been bike commuting for 6 months, 11 miles SE of where I live (to from Glendale/Phoenix, AZ), and cannot visit my 9 year-old son, nor pick him up from school. I financed an on-line lady-friends ventures, reluctantly, because of the many promises she made to me, such as giving me a lawyer so I could get shared custody of my son, and promised to buy me a good used car, when the re-po company came to take my car (Jan 2011), but her promises never came true, and 3 times bought her plane tix to 'come home' to Chandler, AZ, which is near Phoenix, but after each time, there was a 24 to 48 hour period where I would not hear from her, and then she'd get in-touch, only to say she wasn't able to either get out on the flight, because of immigration, or because they took some of her money, and then she had to fly somewhere else. I NEED A DONATED CAR, that is reliable. Will you help? ~Thanks, Bill

I don't like to ask anyone for help like this but I don't know what else to do, it makes me feel so bad to be in this possition. If anyone knows of anyone that might beable to help me please let me know. It would be such a blessing and I would be so appreciated of the help. I'm in the Rochester, NY area. Hi there everyone and anyone whom hopefully can help me. I am a mother of three and my husband just lost his job and I do not work because of the kids. We have been having trouble with our only family car and I was hoping to find a program in the bay area that can help fix my car or get a new one. I need to be able to take the kids to school, they are starting the 22nd of August. I need to have a reliable car. Where can I go, who can help me in the bay area (Fremont CA area). Thank you kindly.
I have been trying to find an organization that can help me get a car or get my car fixed and I can not find one in my area. I tried Vehicles for Change however, they will not help me because so many others in my county have not paid for their portion of the cars they received so now they will not help any one from my county. I FINALLY got a job after searching for a year. My job is 35 miles from my home and of course the engine in my car is blown. I have to take this job due to me having two children and it is a good opportunity. Does anyone have any suggestions????

I do have a vehicle, but weekly there seems to be a new problem with it. A mechanic just yesterday told me that the fuel pump isn't working, and all together the costs of repair we be somewhere around $200 including labor. I don't have this kind of money and was wondering if there was any help I could get to pay for the repairs. I live in Waterloo, Ia. If anyone has answers please let me know ASAP. Thank you so much!
